Celebrity Cruises has officially opened reservations for one of the most anticipated additions to its fleet: Celebrity Xcite, the cruise line’s sixth Edge-class ship. Marking a major milestone for the modern luxury brand, the brand-new vessel will launch its inaugural season by offering a series of seven-night Caribbean voyages departing from the vibrant cruise hub of Miami. The announcement brings with it a broader, highly anticipated reveal of Celebrity Cruises’ deployment plans for the 2028-2029 season, which will see a formidable fleet of 10 ships operating across the Caribbean, introducing several historic fleet firsts, expanded itineraries, and new homeport deployments designed to meet surging consumer demand for tropical getaways.

The debut of Celebrity Xcite serves as the centerpiece of the cruise line’s upcoming deployment strategy. During its maiden season, the sixth Edge-class ship will sail round-trip from Miami on alternating seven-night itineraries designed to immerse travelers in some of the most sought-after ports of call throughout the region. Guests booking these inaugural voyages can look forward to a rotating schedule of sun-drenched destinations, including the historic streets of St. Thomas, the picturesque shores of Antigua, the secluded coves of the British Virgin Islands, the lush landscapes of St. Kitts and Nevis, the dual-culture charm of St. Maarten, and the vibrant coastal culture of the Dominican Republic.

The introduction of Celebrity Xcite underscores Celebrity Cruises’ continued investment in its acclaimed Edge series, a class of ships widely celebrated for its revolutionary outward-facing architecture, innovative interior design, and elevated culinary and wellness offerings. By positioning the new ship in Miami, the cruise line is reinforcing its presence in one of the world’s premier cruise capitals, offering travelers seamless access to the newest hardware in the fleet paired with classic Caribbean itineraries.

Highlights of Celebrity’s 2028-29 Caribbean Season

Beyond the arrival of Celebrity Xcite, Celebrity Cruises’ 2028-2029 deployment represents a significant evolution in how the line services the Caribbean market, highlighted by an unprecedented deployment of Edge-class tonnage and a diverse array of regional offerings.

In a first for the brand, Celebrity Cruises will introduce short-duration cruises operated by an Edge-class vessel. Celebrity Beyond will take on this groundbreaking role, offering a series of new three-night weekend cruises departing from Fort Lauderdale. In total, the ship will operate nine short cruises specifically tailored for travelers seeking a quick weekend escape to the pristine waters and white-sand beaches of The Bahamas. This move marks a strategic shift for the cruise line, bringing the luxurious amenities, high-end dining venues, and sophisticated atmosphere of the Edge series to the short-cruise market for the very first time.

Meanwhile, travelers looking for deeper explorations of the region’s southern waters will have ample opportunity aboard Celebrity Silhouette. The ship is scheduled to operate an extensive program of eight- and 12-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean. These longer, immersive journeys will feature scenic and culturally rich port stops in destinations such as Barbados, Saint Lucia, Martinique, and Grenada, offering guests an unhurried pace and extended time to experience the distinct character of each island.

The deployment also features an expanded focus on one of the world’s most famous maritime engineering marvels. Celebrity Beyond will offer more sailings to the Panama Canal than ever before in the cruise line’s history, giving travelers the chance to experience full or partial transits of the historic waterway combined with stops in neighboring tropical destinations.

For guests seeking consistency and a home away from home in South Florida, Celebrity Reflection will maintain a year-round presence in the Caribbean, operating continuous sailings out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This perennial deployment ensures that travelers have access to Celebrity’s signature hospitality no matter the season.

Adding to the diversity of the deployment, Celebrity Ascent will anchor the line’s premium long-cruise offerings. The ship is slated to operate extended nine- to 12-night sailings that venture deep into the Caribbean and the southern reaches of the region. These comprehensive itineraries will include visits to iconic ports of call such as Grand Cayman, Aruba, Curaçao, Saint Lucia, Martinique, St. Maarten, Barbados, Antigua, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Further enhancing the fleet’s regional footprint, Celebrity Xcel will divide its time by alternating between six- and eight-night itineraries, offering targeted explorations of both the Western and Southern Caribbean. The thoughtful pacing of these voyages is designed to give vacationers a balanced mix of vibrant ports and relaxing days at sea.

On the east coast of Florida, Celebrity Apex is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral, anchoring the line’s presence in Central Florida. From this convenient homeport, the ship will operate diverse itineraries stretching across both the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Rounding out the regional deployment, Celebrity Constellation will sail out of Tampa, Florida, offering a popular series of week-long cruises. These itineraries will combine visits to the historic charm of Key West with the tropical allure of The Bahamas and the varied cultural landscapes of the Western Caribbean.

Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, emphasized the significance of the upcoming deployment and the enduring appeal of the region in a statement accompanying the schedule release.

"The Caribbean is our guests’ favorite place to vacation," Hodges Bethge said. "Whether it’s a long-awaited island getaway or a spontaneous weekend escape, we are creating new and fresh ways for guests to experience the region with Celebrity Cruises."

She added that the upcoming schedule is designed to give travelers broader choices paired with the distinctive qualities that define the brand.

"With the debut of Celebrity Xcite, and more Edge Series ships in the Caribbean than ever before, our 2028 and 2029 season gives guests more ways to experience the destinations they love, paired with innovative design, elevated service, and unforgettable moments at sea that only Celebrity Cruises can deliver."

With bookings for Celebrity Xcite now open and the broader 2028-2029 season taking shape, travelers and travel advisors alike can begin mapping out their future tropical vacations. Following this initial rollout, Celebrity Cruises has announced that additional Caribbean sailings for the summer 2028 season will officially open for public booking on December 9, 2026, providing even more opportunities for guests to secure their preferred staterooms and suites well in advance.
